About Us

The Responsible Tourism Partnership has been promoting Responsible Tourism since 2000. Harold Goodwin drafted the Cape Town Declaration on Responsible Tourism in Destinations adopted in 2002 and the 2022 Responsible Tourism Charter.

We are currently actively engaged in these initiatives:

• Supporting the regional ICRTs in India, Southern Africa, West Africa, and South East Asia
• Publishing RT News monthly
• Providing advisory services to WTM Africa  on Responsible Tourism, developing and organising the growing programme on RT at their Cape Town show each year
• Organising the family of Responsible Tourism Awards. Sabre sponsors the global awards, there are regional awards in Africa, India, Latin America, South East Asia, and the Rest of the World.  Harold Goodwin continues to chair the panel of judges for these awards as he did the World Responsible Tourism Awards from 2004-2016.
• Organising a network of practitioners and academics on Overtourism.
• Running the  International Conferences on Responsible Tourism in Destinations for which we are the rights holders.
